So we are now in March and we have been off to a flying start.
It seems the right time to write my first blog as President as it is International Women's Day. The committee have been very busy organising lots of fun and events for the coming year as this is our Diamond year, 60 years is a long time for any local organisation to be going and it is testament to all the inspiring women that have ran the Little Chalfont Evening WI before us, lets hope we can do them justice and last another 60 years plus many more. The Gardening Club has done some great work in collaboration with the Craft Group, for those who don't know the LC Eves have been designing, planting and maintaining the village triangle for many years and consistently come up with great ideas to get the village talking. The Craft Group have also been busy making things for the Gardening Club (many our members of both) and now have heads down designing a pennant for the Bucks Federation Centenary celebrations in 2020. Story Sack this year are making Punch and Judy puppets for a seaside theme for St Georges School. They are embarking on a history project of comparing traditional forms of seaside entertainment from the past and present day. Our local branch of Men in Sheds have kindly agreed to make them a theatre so they can create their own non violent plays with the puppets. We now have an up and coming Book Club, they had there inaugural meeting in the White Lion and set some rules and choose their books for the year. Supper Club is now being formed and will have their first meeting next month in the Pomeroy. Next weeks meeting has Scott from Jack and Atticus showing us how to transform our old furniture, we hope to see you there and don't forget your first meeting is always free and we ALWAYS have tea and cake.
